What Happens at Kulturhaus Osterfeld
Kulturhaus Osterfeld hosts theatre, cabaret, comedy and a broad mix of cultural events in a converted sandstone building. The city of Pforzheim says the venue opened on 2 September 1994 and has since become the region’s largest cultural and communications centre.
The programme ranges from large courtyard events for up to 2,200 people to poetry slams, talks, chamber musicals and staged readings. More than 70 partners—including individuals, groups and institutions—work with the centre in networks. The venue is also home to Amateurtheaterverein Pforzheim e. V.
The sandstone building forms part of an urban complex built from 1905 to 1907. It was modernised and converted to be barrier-free from the early 1990s. Kultur im Osterfeld e. V. produces 8–10 theatre productions per season and organises a major street-theatre festival every two years.
